issue 01/ mobile mechanic/ serekunda, the gambia/ mon–sat
Muhammad Mobile's and Electronic is a mobile mechanic service working out of Kairaba Avenue, at the traffic light in Serrekunda. We do not ask you to tow the car across town and wait three days for a phone call. We load the tools, the diagnostic kit and the spare parts into the van, drive to your compound, your office car park or the shoulder of the road where you are stuck, and we work on it there. Most jobs — a battery that will not hold charge, an alternator, a starter, wiring that has been chewed through, an air-con that blows warm air at noon — are finished the same day, in front of you, with the old part handed back so you can see what came out.
No booking form, no waiting on email. Ring the number and describe the sound the car is making — that is the whole intake process.

Flat battery at 7 AM, terminals furred white, or a car that starts fine cold and refuses when hot. We test the battery under load, test the alternator output, and replace on the spot with a warranty unit.
Engine light on, rough idle, cutting out in traffic, drinking fuel. We plug in and read the fault codes properly instead of guessing at parts — then tell you plainly what is worth fixing and what is not.
Windows that stopped halfway, wipers with a mind of their own, lights that flicker, a radio that drains the battery overnight, wiring damaged by heat and dust. Tracing faults is the part of the trade we are known for.
In this climate an air-con is not a luxury. We check the system for leaks, recharge the gas, replace the compressor clutch or the blower resistor, and clean out the vents so the air smells like air again.
Click-click-click and nothing, or a belt that squeals every morning. We remove, bench-test, repair or replace, and refit — usually without the car leaving your compound.
Punctures, a spare that is also flat, a wheel that has to come off on the roadside. We carry the jack, the brace and the plugs, and we will not leave you standing on Kairaba Avenue at dusk.
Oil and filter, air filter, plugs, belts, coolant, brake fluid. A straight service at your compound, with the used oil taken away and the service written into your book.
Before you hand over money for a second-hand car, we come and look at it with you. Body, engine, electrics, air-con, tyres, and an honest verdict on whether the price is fair.
section 02/the work
Every job below is done at your location unless it genuinely needs a workshop lift. Prices depend on the car and the part, so we quote on the phone before we drive out — you will not get a surprise bill after the fact.
Most mechanical call-outs are finished the same day. Anything needing a lift we tell you up front and arrange.
The electrical side is where we get most of our referrals — the faults other people have already given up on.
Small jobs are welcome. A bulb or a wiper blade is still a call-out, and we would rather you rang than drove blind.
section 03/the process
Tell us the car, the area you are in, and what it is doing — the noise, the smell, the light on the dash. If it is something we can talk you through over the phone, we will, and you save the call-out.
You get a price for the job and the part before we leave. If it is a busy afternoon we tell you honestly how long the wait is, rather than leaving you watching the road.
We work where the car is, test it with you standing there, and give you the part that came off. If the same fault returns within the warranty period, ring us and we come back.

The business started the way most useful things in Serrekunda start — with people asking. One car fixed properly in a compound off Kairaba Avenue turned into a neighbour's car, then a cousin's, then a taxi driver who told the whole rank. There was never a grand plan to open a garage. There was a set of tools, a van, and a growing list of numbers saved in a phone.
Today the work is roughly half mechanical and half electrical, and the electrical half is what people travel for. Cars here live hard lives: heat, dust, potholes, long idling in traffic, wiring that has already been "fixed" once by somebody in a hurry. Faults like that do not show up on a simple code reader. They show up when somebody sits with the car, works through the loom methodically, and refuses to sell you a part you do not need.
We are not a dealership and we do not pretend to be. We are a mobile mechanic service with a workshop base on Kairaba Avenue at the traffic light, a stock of the parts that fail most often, and a habit of answering the phone. If a job is beyond us — a full engine rebuild, serious bodywork, a gearbox strip-down — we say so and point you to somebody who does it well, rather than take your money and learn on your car.
